Note: This is an ongoing project I’m designing with my team, our long-term goal is to publish an app. To read about the app design and development after the Hackathon click here.
In my first in-person Hackathon, I partnered with 3 classmates to develop an app that helps high school girls gain relevant experience in STEM. Our platform empowers girls to create and join side projects, share their stories and gain inspiration from each other.
In less than 6 hours, I planned our project and timeline using Notion, conducted a user research survey on Google Forms, complied a style guide, created a high-fidelity prototype on Figma and presented our solution to a panel of judges in an award-winning pitch. Our app, Projectify was awarded 2nd Place Overall out of 30 submissions.

As women in STEM ourselves, we started off by discussing personal experiences and our journeys into pursuing engineering. With some further research we identified common pain points.

We decided to focus our target user group to girls from the ages of 14-18 attending a secondary school in Ontario, with an interest in pursuing STEM. To discover how prepared females pursuing a STEM degree felt in high school, we sent out a survey using Google Forms.
